  • Entering Rest is Available

  • Failure to Enter is Possible

    • The Lord will only let you walk in disobedience for a season. He will either get you right, or take you out.

  • Responding in Faith is Essential

UNDERSTANDING THE TERMS

  • Enter Rest

    • “rest” - cease, stop, freedom from work or activity

  • Falling Short

    • “short” - come short, fail to reach

RECOGNIZING THE URGENCY

  • Temperament

    • “fear” - lets us be careful, let us take care; sense of trembling at the significance of the need

    • “diligence” - make every effort, strive, labor, do our best

    • We cannot fully understand the love of God without understanding the justness of God

  • Timing

    • The timing to enter rest is today.

    • 2 Corinthians 6:1-2

      • Now; tomorrow isn’t promised

      • If you do not anchor in you will drift away

  • Transparency

    • Judged by His Word

    • Exposed in His Sight

CONCLUSION/APPLICATION

  • Which will you choose today?

    • To enter into rest?

    • Assume you have more time?

      • Get in to God’s Word

      • Hear Him say “Come”

REASONS FOR NO DESIRE OR LACK OF HUNGER FOR GOD'S WORD

    • As a whole the church today suffers from distraction

CREATE AN APPETITE FOR GOD'S WORD

  • Taste then experience
  • Must be exposed to the Word and apply the Word
  • "taste" --> savor; perceive
  • See; experience - I Corinthians 3:2; I Peter 2:1-3; Hebrews 5:12-14
