LET US RUN WITH ENCURANCE THE RACE SET BEFORE US (12:1)

  • This Race Has a Sense of Urgency

    • I Cor. 9:24

  • This Race Takes Effort

    • Heb. 10:36

This is not a spring, but a race of endurance; a determined race to completion.

We run the race set before us marked out. This is a fixed classical expression for a race whose course is determined by the masters of the games. Follow the course and we can be sure we will arrive at the goal of our pursuit; the desire of our effort.

  • How We Are to Run

    • Surrounded By Witnesses

      • We must recognize their witness. It is what we see in them; inspiration to run. They are examples, not onlookers.

    • Laying Aside

      • Every Encumbrance

      • The Sin That So Easily Entangles Us

    • Fixing Our Eyes On Jesus (Our Example to Watch)

      • Author and Perfecter of Our Faith

    • We Follow His Example to Completion of the Race; The Reaching of Our Goal

      • For the Joy

        • Endured the Cross

        • Despising the Shame

      • Sat Down at the Right Hand of the Throne of God
